It allows to use leica M39 screw mount lenses, in the M series bodies. It also serves for the Bessa T and Bessa-R2 and other compatible bayonet mount cameras. This adapter is suitable for all focal points, but it is the one defined for the 28mm and 90mm, since it is the one that highlights the lines of the viewfinder for this focal. In some older models, other focal lines are shown.
