Transform your all-manual Leica M-mount lenses into fresh autofocus glass for your Sony mirrorless camera with the PRONTO Leica M-Mount Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Autofocus Adapter from Fotodiox. Offering compatibility with the phase detection autofocus (PDAF) system on the a7 II, a7R II, a9, a6300, and a6500, this adapter has a mechanism to physically shift the lens position up to 4.5mm on the Z axis, enabling autofocus even on manual focus lenses. This adapter will support both AF-S and AF-C focusing modes and if the lens is set to its close-focus position, this adapter's extension can be used to get macro capabilities. In addition, users can adapt various lenses to the Leica M-mount, allowing you to gain AF with nearly any SLR lens.

For general use, it is recommended that the lens is set to its infinity focus position, enabling autofocus within its entire focusing range. Performance is optimal with 50mm lenses and wider, whereas telephoto optics will require coarse focusing with the lens before using the adapter for fine tuning via autofocus. The adapter does offer compatibility with Sony's 5-axis in-body image stabilization. Additionally, it is designed to support lenses weighing up to 1.5 lb (680g).

Features:

The button on the side of the Pronto is a function button which allows the user to enter various focus modes as well as setting the focal length and maximum aperture of the lens used on the adapter for optimum compatibility. Compatible with the Phase Detection autofocus (PDAF) system on the a7 II, a7R II, a9II, a6500, and a6600. This adapter will support both AF-S and AF-C focusing modes, face detection and up to 5-axis stabilization on supported cameras. Decreasing the focus area comes with a significant reduction in speed and may produce some focus hunting. Using any cameras with only Contrast Detection Autofocus (CDAF) is not recommended (i.e. Sony NEX, a6000, a7, a7R, a7S, a7Sii, etc) as the Pronto does not work properly with CDAF. Cameras in hybrid autofocus mode (i.e. Sony NEX, a6000 series, a7 & a9 series, etc) may give unsatisfactory performance due to their reliance on CDAF as well.

Auto Focus Speed
The PRONTO adapter relies on the phase detection sensors of your camera and is not intended to support contrast detection auto focus. Due to this, focusing is only possible where phase detection autofocus sensors are located and may result in differences in real world performance from model to model.

Auto Focus Limitations
Because the PRONTO adapter relies on phase-AF, not all of the AF features of your camera work; notably the Eye AF & Lock-on AF do not function properly.

The PRONTO adapter has a Leica M-mount, but the options don’t stop there. With the use of additional adapters you are able to adapt nearly any lens to Leica M, attach to the PRONTO adapter and enable them to be used with autofocus. Not all adapters will work due to size limitations imposed by the motor housing of the PRONTO adapter.
